The Next Chapter: Risk

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I am sorry that I am a day late with my book club post this week. Ben was under the weather yesterday and I'm just finding some computer time tonight.
If you've been following along the past few weeks, you'll recall that I am a part of Jamie Ridler's book club for bloggers called The Next Chapter.
This week's chapter from Martha Beck's The Joy Diet discusses risk.
I've been a risk taker the past couple months. First of all, I listened--really listened--to my inner voice and decided to close my business.
In the month since my closing, my level of inner joy has increased ten fold. It was just what my family and I needed. I have been able to just be and it has been wonderful.
R I S K
Sometimes taking a risk can be so scary. When you're unhappy or are in a rut, it can be very frightening to take that next step. When you free fall into the unknown, it will be scary at times. Aren't all risks? Taking a risk to follow your heart can be a life-changing experience.
I ignored my intuition for a good long time when it came to my professional unhappiness. I took a risk and one month later, I am exactly where I want to be.
Ask yourself how you feel inside. Is there something your heart and inner voice are trying to tell you that you've been ignoring?

as i still undergo a major remaking of my life, i am asking myself this very thing daily - and striving to "hear"
Your story reflects perfectly what following our bliss can do... beautiful!
Ah, ignoring our intuition...we fall into that "trap" all too often. But when we actually listen to it? It's like opening all the doors and windows and so much comes pouring forth it's hard to know where to look first!! :) Here's to risk and all it has to offer!!
Thank you so much for sharing your week with risk and your experience with The Joy Diet in general. It is oh so nice to hear you describe some of the positive results of this book blogging club. Wishing you continued bliss.
You jumped and the universe caught you - because you were following what you were meant to be doing. I think our hearts work like that. If we can really listen closely we know what we have to do. Congratulations!
