Welcome to Chic & Green™ , a wonderful place to visit and read all about some wonderful independent businesses, DIY beauty recipes, vintage finds, home decor, reviews, and so much more since July 2007.
I don't necessarily focus on one genre, but think of my blog as a true reflection of who I am.

My name is Karley and I'm a wife and a mom to two wonderful little boys and am just a girl in upstate NY who loves life, my family, and my friends!
I'm very interested in holistic health, an am a Certified Aromatherapist and advanced in the healing art of Reiki to Master/Teacher level in late 2005.
I am a craft lover and spend lots of time with little painting and decorating projects around the house, favoring vintage and shabby chic finds. The handmade life is something of great importance to me, and it's something I write about regularly.

Professionally, I spent several years in the cosmetics and skin care industry, working as both a freelance makeup artist & in management for major lines, including Lancome, Clarins, and Estee Lauder. I founded a line of natural skin care a few years back, KZM Facial Care Boutique™ . I am so proud of my company's achievements--from being featured in the October 2008 issue of Martha Stewart Body + Soul magazine to several newspapers in New York to being recognized by the CCIC as an officially Cruelty Free Company. 

My customers ranged from stay at home moms to teachers to artists to a couple of beautiful ladies you see each week on tv. My products also made an appearance at the Blue Planet Film Fest in California in the fall. I closed my business in September 2009 to spend more time with my children and concentrate on my writing and get back to enjoying old and new hobbies.
In January 2010, I launched my new line of vintage inspired jewelry and accessories, Loubird Handmade™, which can be found on 1000 Markets . My line, although new, is coming to boutiques nationwide in 2010. Right now, you can find Loubird Handmade™ in Philadelphia at VIX Emporium. Beginning April 1, you will be able to purchase it at the Queen City Emporium on historic C Street in Springfield, Missouri. In mid March, it will be available locally at Webster, New York's Vintage Bliss. You'll see Loubird in more stores this year as well.

I am a freelance writer, writing articles regularly on green topics, typically beauty and lifestyle.
